The South Korean boy band BTS picked up two American Music Awards at the recent ceremony. The Korean artist group won artist of the year in the new artist category and the pop/rock album of the year for Love Yourself: Her. The group was performing its new hit song “DNA” at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Lead singer and group member Jin was recognized for his music. Mr. Jin’s album Sleep Walk was also honored for digital songs, ahead of Kanye West’s Ye.

After the performance, BTS took the stage to accept their wins. BTS was the first K-pop band to appear on the AMAs, which replaced the traditional awards with a round of prizes offered in five categories: pop/rock album of the year, pop/rock song of the year, soul/R&B song of the year, R&B song of the year and electronic dance music artist of the year.
