After winning the 2015 edition of RuPaul’s Drag Race, ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ winner Jinkx Monsoon will appear in Chicago when it opens on Broadway in 2016.
The two shows, ‘Chicago’ and the musical ‘The Light in the Piazza,’ will be Monsoon and the cast’s first collaboration on the Great White Way.
Monsoon is currently starring opposite singer-songwriter Ariana Grande on the ABC TV musical drama ‘Glee,’ but has also found success on Broadway with the role of Dr. Abby Kinney in the original cast of the musical ‘The Light in the Piazza.’

“While you’re in rehearsal, she’s singing at your head,” Monsoon says about the dynamic chemistry between herself and Grande, who appeared as a guest judge on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 3. “I was excited to see her come back.”
Monsoon says her experiences on ‘Pauly D’ and behind the scenes on the series are important to her. She explains that “I am a total theater nerd,” so it was “a big thing” for her to return to the Great White Way and be a part of such a spectacular show.
“I am so excited to share the experience with everyone,” she said about appearing on Broadway.
