NYC pedestrian struck by car in Port Authority bus terminal

A pedestrian was struck by a car as he crossed Bremble Street just outside the Port Authority Bus Terminal on Thursday afternoon, causing him to sustain serious injuries, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

The victim was later identified as 72-year-old Hernan Hernandez of Millbrook, N.Y.

Officers responded to reports of a hit-and-run at 2:08 p.m. in the 1400 block of Bremble Street, according to an MPD spokesman.

The spokesperson said the victim was crossing Bremble Street on foot when he was struck by a car. The vehicle drove away from the scene, and the pedestrian sustained serious injuries, the spokesman said.

The driver of the vehicle was described as a white woman about 30 years old. The spokesperson declined to provide a last name or vehicle description.

The driver of the vehicle is wanted by investigators, and the vehicle is also believed to be a 2004 to 2006 white Jeep Cherokee.

Police said that the motorist has not yet been located.

The windshield of the vehicle was smashed and partially opened, and the vehicle sustained damage to the left front fender and a side mirror, police said.

The source said the vehicle left the scene, but the detective who called it in believed the victim may have been on the sidewalk.

The investigation is ongoing.
