I’m at a tight bit where the race has started and I’m making another fill-in T-bone pass to get through. I’m just in that “blast off” stage and you usually get a feel for it by the fender and if the smoothness is there, then you can relax and keep going. I had in mind to see if I could get up to 70mph by the time I was passing a vehicle in the 60s and I’m pretty close to being able to do that. Even at 70mph, I can’t quite get the fuel off so I’m drafting so I can get under the bar so I can have a tank full before I go up another level and pass another vehicle. Once you get through a mile or two, you can see the achievement of that mile or half-mile lap.”

“It’s a little bit too dark so I can’t see too well. I know I need to be three inches from the nose and I really can’t see that well. I need to be either seven or eight inches to hit the front of the car. Of course the biggest problem is dealing with the draft but at the same time, it’s only 10 seconds behind a race car, so it’s nothing. The car is okay because the speed will draw you into the draft but you really don’t want to go any faster than that. You don’t want to go below 90mph because you’re better off towing the car down from the corners.”

“At the start, I noticed this thing driving behind me from the side-view mirrors and by the end of the distance, I didn’t recognize it. It was another Ford Fastback coming up behind me and it was pure confusion. As I was coming up past, it was a Ford Mustang, which was weird. Then, as we came close to the bridge, it was another Ford Mustang. I thought I was about a-half-block before the bridge but it was only 10 seconds behind me and it was almost winging the car. I suddenly thought of Chivalry and I told her, ‘You’re getting a lesson.’”

“Last year we went to Brazil to do a few test laps and did a handful of races. We jumped back into racing for the Goodwood Revival this year. These guys really seemed to take us under their wing. We did test laps, went back for some days and then we spent more time learning the chassis.”

“At the Goodwood Revival, it was three days of racing for us. That was awesome. We didn’t take a car back with us, we just stayed at the hotel. It’s a crazy race. You’re trying to set up the car to pick up the braking points the night before the race. It’s been incredible what’s been happening with motorsport because of the modernising of cars and people. Over the past 20 years, there’s been a lot of good drivers and drivers that have come through who I’ve admired from the cars. I don’t really get good marks in tune up work and maintenance.”
