Sen. Blackburn Cancels Son’s Trip To China Over China’s Paralympics Disagreement

WASHINGTON – State Sen. Mike “The Candidate” Blackburn (R-Tenn.) joined @FoxNewsRadio host Todd Starnes on Thursday morning on Fox & Friends to discuss her decision to cancel her son’s trip to China over an upcoming Athletes’ Parade.

“There’s nothing we can do about it. We were pulled off the whole road to go to China,” Blackburn said. “It just seems like the Olympics and China and the Communist regime will never be the same. Because you know what — no matter what else they try to do, we still have freedom of speech and we’re there to do a lot of things. I don’t want my son to go and if I were in Beijing with him I would leave him.”

The Congresswoman said it is “unfair” and “unsafe” for Americans to attend the Paralympics in Beijing in March or any Olympic event in China if the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) doesn’t allow their athletes to walk at the Olympics.

“I think it’s really unfair to our country and the United States to continue to allow the Communist Party of China to control our athletes. They are not allowed to march. We wouldn’t allow our politicians to parade in front of our people in North Korea. We won’t allow them to allow them to use American athletes as guinea pigs to benefit their country,” Blackburn said.
