‘The Sandlot’ producer Art LaFleur dies at 48

Art LaFleur, best known for his work on “The Sandlot” and “Field of Dreams,” has died, according to Variety.

He died on Wednesday at age 48. The cause of death was not announced.

A memorial and news conference is planned for this morning at 1:30 at USC’s Los Angeles Sports Arena.

LaFleur was a sound designer on multiple film and television projects, many in the fantasy/comic book genre. His credits include “Batman Returns,” “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit,” “Men in Black,” “Under Siege 2,” “Saw,” “Final Destination 3,” “Sharknado 2: The Second One,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” “The Nutty Professor II: The Klumps,” “Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer,” “The Thomas Crown Affair” and the NBC TV movie “Kevin James: Road Trip.”

LaFleur was born in Los Angeles and raised in St. Louis. He attended USC and became the founder of Virtual Water View. He is survived by his wife, Natalie Rotundo LaFleur.
