Lee Gibson and Stacey Edwards from Melbourne, had gone to Port Hedland in Western Australia to attend a friend’s baby shower. On the way they bumped into and introduced themselves to strangers at an airport who then invited them to their dinner party.

“We weren’t even looking to connect with any of the strangers in the airport, but Lee, it hit me as the room was closing that we were all strangers,” Stacey Edwards told ABC Australia.

Gibson said she cried when she found out about the small group of strangers, who were mainly grandparents and uncles.

She said the idea of a group of strangers passing time for an entire day had quickly and easily become her fondest memory.

“This one little event turned into something fantastic that I will hold dear to my heart for ever,” she said.

Gibson said they would now travel to the same airport every year to celebrate their birthdays, thank the strangers for their kind actions and share a meal together.
