Zia Chishti, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Afiniti Group of Companies, has stepped down from his position.
In a statement announcing his departure, Chishti cited two reasons for leaving. “After ten years of leadership within the Afiniti organization, and taking the advice of our private equity colleagues at Goldman Sachs, we’ve decided to take an important step back to determine next steps, as we work with the bank to secure the financial support and advice that will provide us with the capital and resources necessary to continue our legacy, and offer further opportunities for our employees and partners,” he said.
Before joining Afiniti, Chishti was the Founder and Managing Director of Safir Global Capital Partners. During his tenure, he focused on first-time and non-VC companies in the technology, energy, and healthcare sectors.
He will continue to serve on the advisory board of Safir, where he founded the company.
Afiniti Group was established in 2009 and owns various businesses in West Africa, Asia, and Europe. It has locations in London, Barcelona, Paris, Los Angeles, and New York City.
